Ramaphosa has to decide how to handle vaccine mandates

News24 reported on January 3, that how to deal with vaccine mandates will be one of Pres Cyril Ramaphosa’s priorities for 2022.
“Another issue is how he will deal with rising infections and the country's failure to vaccinate a majority of its population, despite enough vaccines being available.
“The need to strike a balance between lives and livelihoods, and whether to impose mandatory vaccinations, would be a big test for Ramaphosa, whose entire presidency has been characterised by indecision when it comes to making tough calls.
“Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi in December said an organisation representing businesses is heading to the Constitutional Court to seek a declaratory order on mandatory vaccination, in order to ensure that whatever decision the government and businesses take is within the constitutional prescript.”
