Doctors back to court over exams (The Citizen 18 October 2021)

Despite a court ordering the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) in August to allow more than 100 foreign-trained SA doctors to write board examinations, the order has yet to be implemented.

The Department of Health and the HPCSA were also interdicted and restrained from invoking the provisions of the New Pathway Policy Guideline seemingly used to bar foreign-trained doctors

from admission to practice. According to Advocate Rene Govender, the lawyer for the affected graduate doctors, the department and the HPCSA have been slapped with contempt of court proceedings.
