‘Stutttering SA left behind in vaccination drive’

On March 17, News24 reported that Rwanda (a country of about 12-m people) has vaccinated 140 000 people against COVID-19 in two days, while SA has only managed the same number in three weeks.

According to Prof Francois Venter, Director of Ezintsha, a subdivision of Wits Reproductive Health & HIV Institute, SA was vaccinating way below the necessary levels to reach community immunity soon; 200 000 people a day instead of the current 7 000 should be vaccinated.
