Hospital groups recruit volunteers amid second wave

On January 14, Fin24 reported that some of SA’s biggest hospital groups - Mediclinic, Life Healthcare and Netcare - are recruiting volunteers and retired employees, to help them cope with increasing Covid-19 cases and staff shortages, reported Fin24 (14 January 2021).

On January 18, MoneyWeb reported that Mediclinic is reaching up to 90% occupancy levels within its roughly 1 000 intensive care unit (ICU) or high care beds across SA, due to the second wave of Covid-19.

Meanwhile Netcare has warned that Gauteng is set to experience the Covid-19 second wave peak as people come back from their holidays and get back to work.
